Workshops & Lectures

Spirals Boot Camp

Length: 1 day (6 hours)
Project: Two 8" spiral blocks
Skill Level: All levels
Prerequisites: None
Fee: Click "Booking/Registration" at left
Materials Fee: $10

Learn to draw, color and sew each of the four types of spirals. We'll do Nesting and Baravelle spirals in the morning, Point-to-Point and Pinwheel spirals in the afternoon, then finish off with some basic design techniques for incorporating spirals into quilts. Along the way, you'll learn how to select fabrics by color, value and pattern, and pick up techniques for foundation piecing that make it easier than ever. You will receive a pattern for a hotpad to make at home using your spiral blocks. Don't let the title scare you -- spirals are actually much easier than they look!

Class kit includes preprinted foundations, instructions and pattern.

Click on "Materials & Prep List" at left for detailed materials list. RaNae's book Simply Amazing Spiral Quilts is recommended and will be available for purchase at the workshop. (The information covered in this class is also contained in her second book Magnificent Spiral Mandala Quilts.) To purchase books and materials before the workshop, click on "STORE" above.
