Simply Amazing Nesting Spirals with Painless Paper Piecing

Length: Full day (6 hours) or half day (3 hours)
Project: Nesting Spiral block
Skill Level: All levels
Prerequisites: Basic sewing skills
Fee: Click on "Booking/Registration" at left
Materials Fee: $6 per student

Learn to design and sew your own original Nesting spiral block. Nesting spirals are the simplest and most versatile of the four Simply Amazing Spirals. They are similar to a Twisted Log Cabin block, but we'll take the idea much further. Using the techniques in RaNae's best-selling book Simply Amazing Spiral Quilts, learn to create a Nesting spiral in any shape, plus ways to color and combine them. You'll have time in class to sew one spiral block. The materials list includes enough fabric for two blocks, and a pattern is provided for finishing them into a pair of pot holders.

(This class can be taught as a full-day class or a half-day class. In the full-day class students will have time to design and complete the spiral block. We will have time to cover ways to set spirals in quilt layouts and how to quilt spirals. In the half-day version students will design the block and will sew enough to learn how, but will may not have time to complete it in class.)

Class kit includes preprinted foundations for Nesting spiral blocks, sewing instructions, and pattern.

Click on "Materials & Prep List" at left for detailed materials list. RaNae's book Simply Amazing Spiral Quilts is recommended, and will be available for purchase at the workshop.
